DAY 40 - WE WAIT IN FAITH - A NEW JOURNEY BEGINS

Today marks the end of the 40-day journey through St. Augustine’s Confessions and coincides with the Easter Vigil, which is the conclusion of the Paschal Triduum and the day Augustine was baptized in 387AD!

The Easter Vigil celebrates the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Citing Augustine (Sermon 231), the message encourages listeners to find happiness and a "happy, blessed life" by fixing their eyes on Christ's Resurrection.

This episode also includes excerpts from Pope Leo XIV, affirming his identity as an Augustinian, proclaims the power of eternal life that transcends death. He encourages witnessing to the good news with "words of faith and with works of charity, singing with our lives the 'Alleluia'" (citing Augustine, Sermon 256, 1), and pursuing unity, as "though there are many Christians, there is only one Christ" (citing Augustine, Enarrationes in Psalmos, 127,3).

If you enjoyed 40 Days of Confessions, let us know by signing up to receive future episodes as we continue to explore Augustine’s life after he becomes Bishop of Hippo!
