DAY 27 - THE BEST FRIEND
A companion episode to Day 26, Augustine continues to examine the deep pain of grief and longing as paths to his ultimate conversion to Christ.
The Death of his dearest friend Nebridius was shocking. Augustine describes his grief as uninhibited and agonizing, stating that "everything repelled" him, including material comforts like music, poetry, and even daylight. Fr Max, like a friend, gently guides us into these dark and painful periods of grief as opportunities to find and reach out to Christ.
Today we find Augustine in profound grief and his realization of the need to root relationships in God. Today, we are invited to the deepest parts of the desert.
